GAF Roof Shingles Are Used in Many Homes
GAF roof shingles have been around since 1886. The company was started as a small business tailoring to a local community for the necessary shingles needed to repair, build, and protect the many homes in the area. This company grew to a 2 billion dollar a year 
business relatively quickly, due to its product and knowledgeable staff offering both good service and shingles for a good price. You can find a large variety of GAF roof shingles to choose from. These shingles come in a variety of materials, sizes, types, and colors. Depending on the type of roof you’re protecting and the types of weather your protecting the home or business against, you can find many different choices. One thing they recommend is that you use a starter strip under the actual shingles to make it less likely that your shingles will blow off. If you take the right precautions then you’re less likely to have to continuously touch up your roof due to weather. Another thing to keep in mind is that certain warranties require you to put the shingles on a certain way using starters on the raking as well as an underlay material that is nailed to the wood to prevent it from easily falling off. This “wind warranty” has some very specific qualifications to pass inspection. Simply using one starter on the rake won’t qualify, but using three will. The Best Wood For Fire
The best wood for fire depends on what kind of fire you want and what you are trying to accomplish. Whether you are burning in a wood stove, a fireplace or a campfire the type of wood that will be best can be different so it’s not an easy question to answer.
Wood can be divided into two categories, hardwoods and softwoods. Hardwoods come from broadleaf trees like oak, maple, hickory and birch. Softwoods come from conifers like fir, pine, cedar, redwood and spruce.
Hardwoods are typically more hard and dense than softwoods but not always. Aspen, cottonwood and alder come from deciduous trees so they are technically hardwoods but they are softer than some softwoods like douglas fir.
The more heavy and dense a type of wood is the more heat energy it will produce and will burn longer. This makes dense hardwoods a great choice for a wood stove to maintain a comfortable heat over a long period of time. Or if you have a campfire and want a nice bed of coals dense hardwoods make an excellent choice.
Softwoods being less dense have less heat energy but they are easier to ignite and burn faster with a more intense flame. This makes softwoods good for kindling and starting fires. If you want quick intense heat from your wood stove softwoods can be an excellent choice. Softwoods are also good for campfires or an open fireplace if you want nice big flames instead of coals.
Both hardwood and softwood have advantages and disadvantages as wood for fire. I like to have a mixture of both so I can have the best of both worlds.
Install a Hardwood Floor
Hardwood flooring comes in both unfinished and pre-finished materials. These products are made from solid wood, which gives you three-quarters of an inch of wood that can be sanded and refinished if necessary in the future. Pre-finished flooring has an 
extremely durable finish already applied at the factory, which not only saves time and labor, but can also provide a better finish than you could apply yourself. Other wood flooring products include those made from press board laminated to a thin layer of wood, but although this product is inexpensive, it just will not wear as well as solid wood flooring.
Wood flooring comes in standard grades, which vary according to visual appearance and price. Clear grade is of the highest quality, with the wood containing very few knots and very little variation in overall coloring. Select grade flooring varies a bit more in color and has a few more knots, but is still considered a fine flooring product. Common grade flooring contains more of the natural variations and imperfections of the wood, but can still be used in less formal rooms to create a beautiful hardwood floor.
Floor boards should be laid perpendicular instead of parallel in relationship to the floor joists. It is also important to measure carefully so that an accurate base line can be determined, in order to keep the first rows of wood flooring straight. Standard tongue and groove wood flooring is installed by nailing the flooring board directly through the tongue, and then sliding the next piece over the nailed tongue. Although the process can be completed by hand, there are pneumatic tools that can be rented that can make this job much easier.
